The dock at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center has finally been fully restored.

It was severely damaged in 2016 due to Hurricane Matthew.

After three long years, the dock is new and better than ever.

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System also provided a helping hand in making this project happen, and students across the county will get to enjoy the various activities the wildlife center's dock has to offer once again.

“We've been waiting a while for it, but we're really excited because it allows us to do some of the programs that we do with the school children back here again on the dock as we used to do them, so we're very excited about that,” Oatland Island Wildlife Center Director Heather Merbs said.

The new dock was built higher than the last one to help prevent storm damage in the future.
