Oatland Enrichment Saturdays
Learn how we encourage natural behaviors among our animals. It’s not just a paperboard tube – it’s a game of hide and seek!
Oatland Island Wildlife Center recognizes that environmental enrichment is an important and necessary part of husbandry practices for our animals. Increasing sensory stimulation and providing challenges such as puzzle feeders, new objects, or stimulating scents provides animals with opportunities to fulfill their natural behavioral needs. Animal enrichment is done daily at Oatland, and we want to showcase the efforts of our Animal Care staff in providing animals with stimulating objects and activities, and further educate the public about the importance of enrichment, all while allowing you to have a fun, hands-on experience.

What is included in the Enrichment Saturday Program?
This program allows you early entry to Oatland Island where you'll work directly with Animal Care staff to create unique enrichment items specific to the chosen animal, and then walk with the Animal Care staff to the animal enclosure to watch the animal get your enrichment items!
