It's not even technically Spring, but our minds are already looking forward to the warmth of Summer. It's the time of year my daughter looks forward to the absolute most and that's because she gets to go to Summer Camp. Her outright Favorite has always been Oatland Island's Summer Camp and according to the readers of Savannah Magazine, it's yours as well.
Oatland was voted Best Summer Camp for the 2017 calendar year and we couldn't have been more excited for them. With the wide variety of their weeklong day camps for upcoming Kindergarteners to upcoming 8th graders, there is something for every kid. This mom loves it because it is an almost full day of activities and my daughter climbs back into the car exhausted, but bursting with energy to tell me every single detail of her day.

From the sheep’s body to the finished wool product!
Observe and participate in the magical creation of a woolen shawl through all the stages of wool processing.
Members of The Fiber Guild of the Savannah’s join Oatland staff and volunteers in making this traditional spring celebration fun for the whole family.
The Oatland sheep will be sheared throughout the day with demonstrations of carding, spinning, dying and weaving the wool. Crafts, games, hay rides and other children’s activities as well as food concessions will be available.
Enjoy a five course meal that you have prepared throughout the day, along with learning such things as choosing and caring for cast iron cookware, various cooking techniques, fire wood selection and curing, recipes and more.
This workshop will be open to anyone 12 years and older, but register early, space is limited to the first 25 paid registrants.
